Gerald D. Baumann - Vice President of Operations - Windway Capital Corp.
Jerry’s career spans over three decades in marketing and communications. From 2001 to 2015 Jerry was Marketing and Projects Director for Windway Capital Corp. and in 2015 Jerry was elected Vice President of Operations.
Jerry attended Layton School of Art and Design, earned a Bachelors Degree from the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee and attended post-graduate marketing studies at Marquette University.
Jerry is Vice President and in his fourth three-year term on the board of directors with the Sheboygan County Aviation Corporation, d.b.a. Aviation Heritage Center of Wisconsin. Jerry served seven years as Secretary, Director and COO for Laugh Your Way America! LLC and served two more years as Chairman of the Board. Jerry has been a Director for Great Marriages for Sheboygan County since it was founded in 2004.
Jerry and Diane have been married since 1976, have three daughters, three grand children and live on a small orchard and hobby farm in Centerville, located in rural Manitowoc County, Wisconsin.
Steven and Susan Jaberg - Mentors
Steve and Susan Jaberg have been long time residents of Sheboygan and Kohler. They met while attending Sheboygan North High School and then attended the University of Wisconsin – Sheboygan Campus. Susan went on to attain her Bachelor’s Degree from University of Wisconsin – Stout and Steve his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire.
Steve completed his Master’s Degree from Cardinal Stritich University – Milwaukee. He made a career as a leader in senior health care administration. Steve served for nearly 32 years, with the last 25 years as CEO, of one of the State of Wisconsin’s largest senior health care and retirement communities. He extended his commitment to quality health care, serving as board member and president of LeadingAge Wisconsin and served for two terms as board member and treasurer of the national LeadingAge association headquartered in Washington DC.
Susan became a Home Economics teacher teaching at Lightfoot School, Sheboygan Falls; Oostburg High School; and became Curriculum Director at Kohler Public School. She completed her Master’s Degree from Cardinal Stritch University – Milwaukee and was promoted as the Principal of the Kohler Elementary and Middle Schools. Susan also enjoyed serving three terms as an elected member of the Kohler Village Board of Trustees.
Susan and Steve became mentors for Great Marriages and very much enjoy their involvement with the organization.
Richard Koehl (Treasurer) - Vice President General Manager - PW Stoelting, LLC
Richard Koehl is the General Manager of PW Stoelting LLC, a Vollrath Company in Kiel, Wisconsin. He has had responsibility for the overall business operations since 2014. His prior experience has been with DRS Technologies as a V.P. of Integrated Operations working with the Navy to power Warships. Prior to that Richard headed up engineering, product development marketing and quality for Kohler Power Systems.
He was a member of the Board of Directors for numerous non profit organizations like United Way of Sheboygan County, Toys for Tots and the Shriners. Richard has served as the Chapter President for the ASQ chapter 1126, APICS chapter executive board member and Committee Chair of PMI.
Richard holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelors of Engineering. Richard is an Eagle Scout and retired USAF Lt. Colonel. Richard is married with 4 grown children and 5 grandchildren. His wife Kelly is a teacher at St. John’s Lutheran School in Plymouth, WI. Richard and Kelly love to camp and bicycle. Their children are living in New York, Oregon, Texas and Wisconsin.
Abraham Loya - Pastor - Hispanic Pentacostal Church
Pastor Abraham Loya was born on July 8, 1977 in the beautiful city of Chula Vista, California. He is the Pastor-Teacher of IAFCJ of Sheboygan County, although he has studied theology at several institutions such as Logos Institute, LOGOI Ministries, Purpose Institute Fuller, CCM Seminar and some other schools of theology. He considers himself as self-taught. He is member of the CCDA org.
In the last six years, he has been traveling the country and abroad preaching and teaching urban ministry focusing on Christian empowerment and community development. He is also an instructor of History of Christianity, Leadership and Pastoral Studies at Purpose Institute Milwaukee Campus.
Abraham Sr. and his wife Janie live in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and have four children: Kendra, Abraham Jr, Dolce and Vashti.
Thomas J. Rice (Chairman) - Consultant - HR Unlimited, LLC
After completing a successful career in Human Resource Management, Tom and his wife, Sue began mentoring for Great Marriages in 2011. After a year, Tom was asked to serve as Interim Executive Director while a search was made for a full time Executive Director (ED). Upon hiring a new ED, Tom continued to serve on the Board and he is now President of our Board of Directors. He and Sue also continue as the coordinators of our mentoring program and are responsible for training all of our mentor couples.
Hal Ribich (Vice Chairman) - Financial Advisor - Ziegler Wealth Management
Hal Ribich is a financial advisor and planner for Ziegler Wealth Management, a Chicago based investment firm with offices located throughout the Midwest. He became certified as a financial planner in 1990 and operated his own financial planning and investment business for more than 14 years before joining Ziegler in 1999. The experience he has gained over the years in his own practice and as a business owner has allowed him to successfully support many other business owners and individual investors for over 30 years.
Hal holds several securities and insurance licenses and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, with degrees in zoology and engineering. He also completed the College of Financial Planning professional education program in 1990. Hal and his wife, Kathryn, have four adult children and three grandchildren. When they are not involved with work and family they enjoy beekeeping, kayaking, backpacking, sailing and any time they can spend in the outdoors.
Sebastian Schmidt - President / Owner - Modix Corporation
Sebastian Schmidt is Founder and President of MODIX Corporation, a capital equipment machine manufacturer, headquartered in Sheboygan, WI. His prior experience was President and COO of Kurtz Ersa, a German machine manufacturer with a subsidiary in Plymouth, WI. His background is in international sales and machine manufacturing.
Sebastian has served as a member of the Board of Directors for numerous for-profit and non-profit organizations.
In 2001, Sebastian accepted the Lord as his Savior. When the opportunity came up to be one of the first to be supporting Great Marriages, he said yes. He believes that a great marriage is the cornerstone of a healthy society. His passions are: the Lord, his family, travel, and golf.
Sebastian has been very happily married to Leonore since 1989. They have 3 wonderful adult children, currently all residing in Germany.
Michael G. Vaszily - Director of Marketing & Merchandising - Sargento Foods Inc.
Michael lives in Sheboygan County and is a proud husband and father to three beautiful kids. When not working at his job at Sargento Foods, or spending time with his family, Michael enjoys sharing his life in programs like his church’s youth program or Big Brothers/Big Sisters to help the future leaders of tomorrow see the greatness they possess inside.
Michael’s belief is that a Great Marriage is both a key foundational component to a strong family as well as to a healthy and strong society – leading to his interest and service to Great Marriages of Sheboygan County.
Sharon York - Associate Pastor - Christian Life Church, Plymouth
Sharon lives in Plymouth with her husband Rich of 35 years. She has three adult kids (one son & two daughters), all married; one granddaughter and another granddaughter due on Christmas day! Sharon is a graduate of Central Bible College and is ordained with the Assemblies of God. She is passionate about helping people connect with God and find their place in ministry.
She has served as a Children’s Pastor, a Women’s Ministries Assistant Director of the Wisconsin/Northern Michigan District of the Assemblies of God and currently is the Associate Pastor at Christian Life Church. She is an unashamed coffee snob and enjoys eating out while maintaining her status as a lifetime Weight Watcher member.
Terry J. Kohler - In Memoriam
BOARD MEMBER EMERITUS:
Terry Kohler was very active in the Marriage Improvement process in this country, having been involved deeply with Mark Gungor in the creation of national/international LAUGH YOUR WAY TO A BETTER MARRIAGE of Appleton WI. He was also very active in the development of GREAT MARRIAGES FOR SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, the area where his major business interests were located. He was also involved with a number of other marriage improvement operations around the country.
Terry Kohler was President of Windway Capital Corp., a holding company with multiple subsidiaries. Mr. Kohler had been associated with The Vollrath Co., LLC, since 1962, holding positions of President, and then Chairman and CEO, prior to its reorganization in January, 1989, when Windway Capital Corp., the holding company, was formed.
Terry was a graduate of Admiral Farragut Academy of New Jersey. In 1955 he joined the U.S. Air Force and was trained as a jet fighter pilot and was discharged from the Strategic Air Command in 1959 with the rank of Captain.
Three years later, he graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management. Terry earned his Master of Science degree in Industrial Management a year later in 1963 from the Alfred P. Sloan School of Management at MIT. His thesis and research were in the area of business application of "large scale" digital computers in smaller companies.
Mr. Kohler is the late husband of Mary Stewart Kohler. Between them they have 7 grown children, and 13 grandchildren.
Terry passed away in September of 2016, but his legacy continues on through his many great works, including Great Marriages.
Louis P. Gentine - Chairman - Sargento Foods Inc.
BOARD MEMBER EMERITUS:
Lou Gentine is a second-generation family owner of Sargento Foods Inc., a leading national marketer of cheeses and cheese-based solutions headquartered in Plymouth, Wisconsin. Lou earned a Bachelor of Business in Accounting from Notre Dame, and worked at Price Waterhouse as a Certified Public Accountant before joining Sargento in 1973 as Controller. Following several other promotions, he assumed the position of Chief Executive Officer in 1981 and Chairman in 1996. Lou retired as CEO in October 2013. At that time, his son, Louie Gentine, took on the Chief Executive Officer responsibilities. Lou continues his role as Chairman of the Board. Lou has served on various boards including VPI Inc., The Oldenburg Group, and Boys and Girls Clubs of Milwaukee. He also has served as Chairman of both the International Dairy Foods Association and National Cheese Institute in Washington, D.C. where he continues as a member of their respective boards.
He currently is a member of Legatus, a Catholic Executives organization, serves on the Board of Directors of Road America in Elkhart Lake and the Notre Dame Institute for Church Life. Lou recently served as co-chair for the University of Wisconsin’s Center for Dairy Research renovation and expansion campaign. Lou and his wife Michele shared chairmanship duties for the Sheboygan County United Way Campaign in 2005 and the Campaign for Holy Hill in 2001.
Lou and Michele live in Elkhart Lake where they raised their three children, Tony, Louie, and Kelly. In addition to their children and grandchildren, Lou enjoys motorcycling, reading, and a very occasional game of golf.
